this weekend mj and i may have our first real fight and i may be single come monday.

let me explain.  mj went to Virginia Tech and up until this point i have always cheered them on - i have sweatshirts, shorts and t-shirts to prove it.  i am a true fan.   but, this weekend they play my team, Central Michigan University.  my dad played football at CMU and i grew up there.  i may love virginia tech but central michigan has my heart. 

So, it all comes down to Saturday.  Hokies vs the Chippewas.  Wish us luck!

MJ and I leave for Wilmington today.  His good friend from high school is marrying his college sweetheart and they asked MJ to be in the wedding.  such an honor.   They picked the perfect day for an outdoor wedding - Saturday is going to be sunny and 75!!  Hope everyone has a great weekend.  I'll post photos as soon as i return on Monday.

busy busy weekend ahead of me.  my parents are in town and we have dinners, monuments, museums, a national book festival, family, friends and a nationals game to fit in.  hope you have a great weekend and maybe one a little bit more relaxing than mine.  see you back here on monday!

Can't believe it's already Friday - we should always have four day work weeks.

MJ and I are heading to Baltimore for the evening - to dine here and meet up with an old friend.  Saturday we are volunteering and Sunday will be a day of football for MJ and relaxation for me.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Go Hokies!

venice architecture biennale

two years ago i had the chance to travel to Italy and visit the Venice Biennale (the best of art, architecture and design).  I was studying in London and mid-deep in thesis and a trip to Italy, although would be educational, just wasn't going to happen it my mind.  I should have taken the trip because now i a half way around the world and would give anything to go!

architecture, thanks to my boyfriend, is becoming one of my new favorite things - the following photos were all taken from the Venice Architecture Biennale {via} - and if you thought that the world's largest architecture show would be only about buildings - you are going to be surprised.

things that made my friday special

Walking up this morning and still not feeling that well from my three day cold - i was expecting 

to have a not so good Friday, but surprising it has been pretty great.

1. My roommate, Lindsay had a cupcake (from cake love) waiting for me in the kitchen.  it was delicious. 
2.  I got the last two tickets in the front center section to see the Avett Brothers in October.
3.  I left work around 2:30 - i had finished all my work - and with my company in the month of August Friday's are optional.
4.  My BKM's husband is home.
5.  and MJ is coming over tonight to keep me company while I'm still a little under the weather.

MJ just told me...it's official, Matt Capps will be leaving the Nats.  'The Washington Nationals traded closer Matt Capps to the Minnesota Twins for highly regarded catching prospect Wilson Ramos late Thursday night' from the Washington Post.

Last night Capps had a few thigns to say about leaving:  'I'm kind of saddened I'm not going to be around the guys I've been around the last four months or so.  I've really enjoyed my time here in washington.  i knew it was a possiblity.  i'm saddened i'm leaving the guys i'm leaving.  The Washington Nationals organization is a first-class organization.'

hope every one has a fun-filled weekend...

it's going to be a very hot one in dc (possibly the hottest ever).   planning on spending a lot of time at the pool and the the waterfront in Georgetown.  might even try and make these delicious treats for MJ - we are celebrating a year and a half together this weekend.
