the queens are out tonight

tonight is the dc drag queen high heel race.  each year on the tuesday before halloween, thousands of people flock to dupont circle to watch costumed draq queens show off their elaborate outfits and race down 17th street.  mj and i went last year with a few friends and had such a good time.  i'll let you know who wins!

taste of georgetown

this weekend is dc's annual taste of georgetown.  it is a celebration of food, wine and music - 30 of georgetown's best restaurants set up tents and showcase their favorite dishes.  mj and i went last year and had the best time.  all the info can be found here.

perfect family weekend

happy monday everyone!  how was your weekend?  mine was way too short - but i guess that's the way it always is when you have family in town.  i miss them already and they only left yesterday.  

 friday night we made it to a nats game - and we won!  beating the braves!!  guess my parents are good luck.  (and yes that is my mom and i with Teddy Roosevelt - it wouldn't be dc without a few presidents running around).

we spent saturday morning at the mall - its been almost 27 years since my dad has been to dc.  anyone else want to visit?  i'm a great tour guide!!

busy busy weekend ahead of me.  my parents are in town and we have dinners, monuments, museums, a national book festival, family, friends and a nationals game to fit in.  hope you have a great weekend and maybe one a little bit more relaxing than mine.  see you back here on monday!

oval office makeover

The oval office has gotten a makeover and the project was done at no cost to the tax payers - funded completely by the White House Historical Association. President Obama mixed old with new and chose a palette of soft neutrals.

things that made my friday special

Walking up this morning and still not feeling that well from my three day cold - i was expecting 

to have a not so good Friday, but surprising it has been pretty great.

1. My roommate, Lindsay had a cupcake (from cake love) waiting for me in the kitchen.  it was delicious. 
2.  I got the last two tickets in the front center section to see the Avett Brothers in October.
3.  I left work around 2:30 - i had finished all my work - and with my company in the month of August Friday's are optional.
4.  My BKM's husband is home.
5.  and MJ is coming over tonight to keep me company while I'm still a little under the weather.

hope every one has a fun-filled weekend...

it's going to be a very hot one in dc (possibly the hottest ever).   planning on spending a lot of time at the pool and the the waterfront in Georgetown.  might even try and make these delicious treats for MJ - we are celebrating a year and a half together this weekend.

Dolcazza Artisanal Gelato is a charming gelato shop in dc (well...three locations actually) and for the HOT summer months they are now offering gelato with a splash of liquor.  p.s. did i mention that they only work with local farmers and chefs in the DC area??
